Governance
Overview
GenomePT is a coordinated national research infrastructure integrating genome sequencing and analysis platforms across Portuguese institutions.
Its governance model ensures strategic alignment and effective coordination at national level, while preserving the autonomy and specialisation of each participating node.
Governance model
GenomePT operates as a distributed infrastructure, bringing together complementary capabilities across universities, research institutes, hospitals and innovation environments.
Coordination at national level enables:
-
integration of expertise and resources
-
coherent development of genomics capacity
-
coordinated access to technologies and services
Participating institutions retain responsibility for the operation of their local platforms.
Coordination and governance structure
GenomePT is led by a national coordinator responsible for strategic direction, representation, and coordination of network activities.
The governance structure includes elected regional coordinators (North, Centre, Lisbon/South), who support communication and articulation across the network.
Strategic decisions are taken by the plenary of node representatives, ensuring coordinated development of the infrastructure.

GenomePT integrates sequencing and analysis platforms hosted across participating institutions.
Nodes contribute specialised expertise and operate within their host organisations, participating in the network under defined criteria.
