About
GenomePT is the national research infrastructure coordinating genome sequencing and analysis platforms across Portugal.
It supports access to advanced genomics technologies, promotes integration of expertise across institutions, and contributes to the international positioning and interoperability of Portuguese genomics capacity.
GenomePT operates as a distributed network serving research, clinical, training and innovation communities.
A distributed national network
GenomePT integrates sequencing and analysis platforms hosted in universities, research institutes and hospitals across Portugal. This distributed model enables complementary expertise, regional coverage and coordinated access while preserving the autonomy of each participating institution.
A national research infrastructure
GenomePT is part of the Portuguese Roadmap of Research Infrastructures, contributing to the development of national genomics capacity and supporting research, innovation and advanced training across multiple domains.
Funding and support
GenomePT was originally supported through national and european funding frameworks for the Portuguese Roadmap of Research Infrastructures. The infrastructure currently operates as a national consortium, maintained through the active participation of its institutional nodes and the coordination of shared activities.
Financial management and administrative support for GenomePT activities are currently ensured by FCiências.ID – Associação para a Investigação e Desenvolvimento de Ciências.
